Overview of Process for Out of Town Labiaplasty Patients

Dr. Traci Temmen does her best to accommodate her patients’ demanding work and home schedules. As a working mother herself, she understands how important it is to her patients to schedule, undergo, and recover from their procedure as quickly as possible. Additionally, due to the discreet nature of labiaplasty surgery, she also understands that many patients require absolute discretion and prefer not to involve partners or family members in their decision-making and recovery process.

For these reasons, Dr. Temmen performs most labiaplasties and other genital procedures under local anesthesia on Friday mornings. Her experienced all-female staff is compassionate and trained in providing each patient with a calm and relaxing perioperative environment. Preoperative appointments for out-of-town labiaplasty patients are usually scheduled on Thursday afternoons or Friday mornings prior to surgery. The surgical procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes, and patients can expect to be in and out of the office within two hours on the day of the procedure. Patients are then allowed to recover in the privacy of their hotel room or the comfort of a nearby family or friend’s home over the weekend. A postoperative appointment is scheduled the following Monday and patients are allowed to return home after their successful check-up with Dr. Traci Temmen. To accommodate travel schedules, postoperative appointments can be scheduled over the weekend when necessary. Upon returning home, most patients are able to return to normal school or work schedules after only the initial two day recovery process. However, labiaplasty patients must observe vaginal precautions (i.e. no sex, no tampons, etc.) and engage in limited exercise for six weeks postoperatively.

How to Become an Out of Town Labiaplasty Patient

  1. Submit a Brief Patient Questionnaire and Personal Photos

The Brief Patient Questionnaire and photos will allow Dr. Temmen to determine if you are an appropriate surgical candidate. Photos may be submitted to Dr. Traci Temmen’s secure and personal email: tracitemmenmd@aol.com. Photos should be taken with the patient disrobed from the waist down, lying back, with knees bent and legs parted. The camera should be oriented in the vertical direction with photos extending from the top of the pubic bone to the bottom of the buttocks.

  2. Schedule a Consultation with Dr. Traci Temmen

After receiving and carefully reviewing your information and photos, the staff will schedule a consultation via phone or skype for you with Dr. Temmen. At this time, you will have the opportunity to get to know Dr. Temmen, discuss your concerns, and have all questions answered.

  3. Schedule Your Surgery and Preoperative Appointment

Scheduling your labiaplasty surgery with Dr. Temmen is quick and easy. Dr. Temmen generally performs five to six labiaplasties or other vaginal surgeries on Friday mornings and early afternoons every week. However, if another day is more convenient for you, simply discuss your scheduling needs with the office staff. A non-refundable surgical deposit of $795 is required upon scheduling surgery. The remaining balance is required at least two weeks prior to surgery.

Dr. Temmen prefers to meet her out-of-town labiaplasty patients during a preoperative appointment the day before their scheduled procedure. However, if travel arrangements do not allow, preoperative appointments may be scheduled in the early morning prior to your surgery under local anesthesia.

  4. Schedule Your Postoperative Appointment

For those patients undergoing labiaplasty surgery on a Friday, your postoperative appointment will be scheduled for the following Monday morning. In some instances, postoperative appointments may be scheduled over the weekend when travel plans require a Sunday or Monday morning departure. For surgeries performed other days of the week, a postoperative appointment will be scheduled one to two days after your procedure. Dr. Temmen will examine you, ensure there are no issues, and review all postoperative instructions again. After your successful postoperative appointment, patients are allowed to return home and resume normal work, school, and home functions. Vaginal precautions (i.e. no sex, no tampons, etc.) and limited exercise must be observed for six weeks postoperatively.

Planning Your Trip to Tampa, Florida

We prefer patients to arrive in Tampa, Florida for their preoperative appointment with Dr. Traci Temmen at least one day prior to the scheduled surgery. Labiaplasty patients should expect to stay in Tampa, or a nearby town, at least two days after surgery. Thus, it is expected that your trip to Tampa will last approximately three to five days in total.

As labiaplasty, vaginal tightening, perineoplasty, and other female cosmetic genital surgeries are performed under local anesthesia, patients may drive or fly immediately before and after their procedure. Patients may recover privately in a hotel or with family and/or friends, but do not require adult supervision postoperatively. Patients usually require pain medications for no more than one to two days, and after that most discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter Tylenol.
